Inspired by the neighborhoods of historic downtown Charleston, I'On Village was designed with southern charm in mind. Built along narrow streets through quaint neighborhoods featuring southern architecture is what gives this community its unique character.
I'On Village is a traditional, southern style neighborhood that overlooks the gorgeous Cooper River in Mt Pleasant, SC and is comprised of six residential boroughs tucked around wetlands and creeks. Centered by I'On Square, this urban village features local shops, offices, and the I'ON Club that encourages its homeowners to participate in community style living, active and healthy lifestyles, and various programs to enrich everyone's lives.

I'On Village gets it's name from Jacob Bond I'On. Jacob was a planter as well as a U.S. Army and militia officer. He was also a state legislator who descended from the Bond family line which established Hobcaw Plantation, the location of the present village, around 1730.
I'On died in 1859 and was enterred beside his wife at the old family cemetery which resides appoximately one half mile to the north of the present I'On Village office.
The Hobcaw Plantation changed hands many times even before I'On's demise. It's main purpose was farming and usually referred to as the "Cottage Tract" by the Maybank, Bond, and Read families.
I'ON's future as a neotraditional development was envisioned in 1995, when Vince and Thomas Graham purchased the property to that end. The I'On monument at the cemetery was restored by the I'On Company and Historic Resource Management, Inc., in October 1996 and the cemetery was formally rededicated in December 1996.
